Hospice Care

Hospice is a philosophy based on the premise that death is part of life. Ideally hospice care is home based with the owner as the primary caregiver.

Following the shock of a terminal diagnosis owners often need time to digest the news and evaluate the situation.

A hasty decision to euthanize based on anticipatory grief and suffering can be a source of regret and guilt forever.

With Hospice care we aim to nurture the human-animal bond and provide an alternative to premature euthanasia without compromising your pet’s quality of life.

Our veterinary hospice practitioner will evaluate each unique situation.

We will address basic elements of a pet’s Quality of Life. Key elements are:

• Nutrition
• Hygiene
• Comfort with adequate pain control
• Hydration
• Happiness
• Mobility

An initial consult is scheduled with follow-up doctor and/or technician visits and phone consults will be arranged as needed.
